"Lightning makes no sound until it strikes." - MLk, Jr

Dig. Sow. Grow.

Dig: Educate yourself! Be curious about the forces that affect you, the community and the planet. Dig. Ask questions. Listen & speak to your elected officials, people you've never spoken or listened to before, neighbours, friends and even foes.

Sow: Take action. This is the part where you take an active role in making the world a better place. Donate to causes you believe in, start your own cause, march, organize, and definitely vote.

Grow: Keep going. Nurture the action you started. Keep thinking, keep learning, keep fighting. Continue to be a force for good.

Some ideas on how to be involved:

VOTE

Voting is the most important action you can take as a citizen in a democracy. Heck, maybe you even want to run in your local municipality.

In the United States, find your State or Local Election Office website here.

GET TO KNOW YOUR POLITICIANS (OR BECOME ONE)

Who represents you on a government level? Remember, elected officials work for you. Make them do their job. Talk to them, write to them, meet with them and most importantly hold them accountable for their words and actions.

USE YOUR WALLET AS YOUR BALLOT

Take our one week challenge of analyzing every dollar you spend. Follow the trail. Where do the funds end up? Who are you supporting? What you are supporting? Do the companies and people you support stand with you?

DONATE

Your physical presence and time is the most important donation you can make. Just showing up is hugely significant. You can also make financial donations to organizations doing important work in the world.

THE HELLEBORE SOCIETY ART PROJECT

We've created a lovely piece of art (generously donated by Vancouver's Olivia Harrison) which doubles as a greeting card and an organic cotton T-shirt. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the International Rescue Committee. These cards and t-shirts can be purchased at:

  • Room6  (cards & t-shirts are available here)

Our second project is in the works with art donated by Maggie Boyd. 100% proceeds will benefit 350.org.

We'd love you to join us. xox THS
